Thilo Sarrazin contesting his dismissal from the Bundesbank
Thilo Sarrazin, board member of the Bundesbank threatened to revoke a controversial book about Muslims and Jews, will challenge in court any decision to that effect by the German central bank.
In an interview with Focus magazine, excerpts of which were made public Saturday, Thilo Sarrazin accuses his critics have mounted against him "a political show trial".
The German central bank said Thursday it had asked German President Christian Wulff to revoke this economist of the Social Democrats (SPD).
If this measure is ratified by the president, it will anyway be overturned by the courts, said Thilo Sarrazin.
"The president will have to seriously consider whether it wishes to conduct this trial will show policy to an end and then see (his decision) rejected by the court," he said.
Thilo Sarrazin, born in 1945, writes in his book that Muslims are undermining German society and live off the state.
Besides his criticism of Muslims and Turks, Thilo Sarrazin evokes "a particular gene of the Jews", a phrase he says it has a positive meaning for him.
According to opinion polls, the Germans are divided on whether to sanction the economist.
In his book, Sarrazin wrote: "I do not want my grandchildren and great-grandchildren live in a Muslim majority country where Turkish and Arabic are widely used, where women would wear scarves, where days will be punctuated by the muezzin's call. "
